A victim will find peace only at the price of debauchery for the indulgement and satisfaction of individuals or groups that exert pressure on her. Are we to believe that such an outrage really exists: that ordinary women live through hell in the light of day meanwhile their neighbors go on living their ordinary lives? Do we realize the degree of police involvement in institutionalized rape and prostitution? Can it be that civil society which goes, in theory, by Gospel principles, fails to protect its citizens and leaves its own victims to their own fate? Worse still, the tormentor is protected while the victim is not. Victims are oftentimes recruited among women made all the more "visible" by media exposure. The entertainement industry is a big "recruiter". Media is run by powerful moguls and influencial lobbies. Social cohesion is a product of memes, socially imposed attitudes that govern peoples' mind sets. In such a context, media plays an important "propaganda" role and dictates normative behaviors. With professional recognition and prestige, for ex., a woman can avoid risk and escape danger. With my own eyes I have seen young girls fall into the hands of honest looking boys. Once infiltrated in charitable associations or community groups these "clean cut" men started hunting down women. How many times have I not seen a woman left to take care of her child alone? Is it not time for a wake up call? To help victims escape from the maze in which they are trapped? Instances of lower and higher authority put up with the "trafficking" of ordinary women-citizens and have us all carry a collective guilt concerning this abuse. Women pawn their safety with a bodily "contribution". We cannot remain silent.
